YMCA EDUCATIONAL SOLUTION (YES) TO DISRUPTED SECONDARY SCHOOL CALENDAR.
The COVID-19 Pandemic came by surprise and spread rapidly like fire throughout the world.
The pandemic disrupted businesses, academic calendars, peoples income and even changed the world order. In response to effects of the pandemic, the Global Youth Mobilization for Generation Disrupted (GYMGD) was developed by the six biggest youth movements in the world in collaboration with the World Health Organisation.
The YMCA World as one of the 6 biggest organisations went further to establish National Projects in about 20 countries including Nigeria.
The YMCA Educational Solution (YES) for Disrupted Academic Calendar seek to empower young people to reach out to younger people in secondary schools preparing for their WAEC and School Certificate in May/June 2022. The main purpose is to minimise the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on education.
To achieve the above, YMCA Nigeria has established extra-mural classes in three major cities of Ibadan in Oyo State, Warri in Delta State and Lafia in Nasarawa State from September 2021 to April 2022 to complement government and teachers efforts towards preparing the SS3 pupils for their West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) examinations.
